Details
The lineage of the S4 can be traced back to the original Audi Sport quattro and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive technology that has been proven on racetracks throughout the world. Audi used the Sport quattro to win the World Rally Driver's Championship in 1983 and the Driver's and Manufacturer's Championships in 1984. Numerous road racing championships were to follow, including Super Touring Car titles for the Audi A4 quattro in seven European countries in 1996. Audi has been so successful with quattro in road racing that the FIA, the sanctioning body for European touring car events, has banned four-wheel drive from competition. The S4 is the latest Audi Sport version to showcase this race-proven technology. The S4 is a completely new, high-performance sport version of the popular Audi A4 sedan. Subtle exterior features distinguish the S4 from the A4, but the 2.7-liter five-valve biturbo V6 producing 250 horsepower sets the S4 apart. Audi's famous quattro all-wheel-drive system is standard, along with a 6-speed manual transmission, sport suspension, and 17-inch Avus alloy wheels.
